OPUS AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

POST TREATMENT CARE

  • Immediately after treatment, cool compresses will cool this skin down.
  • Exosomes will be applied as desired by the client to speed up healing, and increase collagen and elastin production. This is an extra cost.
  • Do not wash your face the first night.
  • Sleep on your back with pillow propped.
  • Ensure your pillow cases are clean and freshly washed with non-chemical detergent.
  • The next morning wash your face with the gentle cleanser provided in your aftercare (ZO Gentle Cleanser)  Wash the treated areas twice per day.
  • Apply Hale Derma recovery spray twice daily for 5 days to the treatment area. More spray applications will not hurt the skin so apply liberally. Getting the spray accidentally into the eyes or mouth is completely harmless. This is included in your aftercare.
  • V-STAT by Vivier can be applied after 24-48 hours morning and night. Spray Hale Derma on first and follow with V-Stat.
  • Use a medical grade non-chemical sunscreen with an SPF 40 daily 24-48 hours post treatment. We recommend TIZO SPF 40 Face and Body Tinted which is included in your aftercare package. If you run out and want to continue using TIZO, more can be purchased.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • You might experience mild pain or a sensation of warmth in the treated area. This discomfort is generally short-lived.
  • The skin might feel warm to the touch for a few hours after the procedure.
  • Redness may last up to 48 hours after treatment. The treated area can appear reddened immediately after the procedure and look and feel like a sunburn. This is a typical response to the treatment and usually diminishes within a few hours to a day.
  • Some swelling might occur, especially if sensitive areas of the face, like the eyes, are treated. The swelling usually subsides within a day or two.
  • The skin can feel tight or stretched in the treated area for a day or two following the procedure.
  • As the skin begins its natural healing and rejuvenation process, there might be some dryness, sand-paper feel, or minor flaking. The skin might appear older at this time. However,  between days 5-7 the dry layer will gradually exfoliate off in the shower or while face washing and will reveal fresh skin underneath.
  • Avoid direct shower pressure to treated areas for the first 5 days.
  • Discontinue Retinoids, acidic or irritating products including exfoliants, benzoyl peroxide, AHAs/BHAs, or any other acne product until after day 7.
  • Mild itching may occur: The treated area can feel itchy as it heals. It’s essential not to scratch to avoid complications such as infection.
  • There might be a temporary change in sensation, such as numbness or tingling, in the treated area. This usually resolves on its own.
  • You might notice minor bruising, especially if you are prone to bruising or if sensitive areas were treated. This will typically fade over several days.
  • Once the ablative areas have pixelated over, make-up (typically between 24-48 hours) can be applied to minimize pixel appearance.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, jacuzzis, or any form of excessive heat for the first 72 hours.
  • Use a gentle cleanser for the treated area(s), follwed by moisturizer and sunscreen (during the day).
  • If scabbing occurs a wound healing ointment such as Derma-V from Viver may be applied.
  • For dry skin sensation ZO hydrating cream is recommended.
  • Resume regular skin care routine 7 days after treatment.
  • Keep yourself hydrated.
  • If adverse skin effects occur such as excessive reddening or swelling, please contact your clinical provider as soon as possible.

Remember that while these side effects are common and generally not cause for concern, any prolonged or worsening symptoms should prompt a follow-up with the treating clinician. It’s crucial to follow post-treatment care instructions to optimize healing and reduce the chances of adverse effects.

  • Apply cool packs to eyes as needed.
  • Place your Hale Derma spray in your fridge and spray on the treated areas as needed to cool and refresh the skin.
