Featherlift PDO aftercare
Apply ice
Ice the treated area for a few minutes 4-5 times during the day for the first week if you are experiencing slight bruising or swelling. Apply ice covered with a wet clean towel or gauze for 5-10 minutes then remove for 5 minutes.
Avoid touching
Do not touch the treatment area the first day and avoid washing your face until the next morning.
Wash
Starting the next morning, wash with gentle cleanser for the first week. We recommend ZO Gentle Cleanser.
Sleep on your back
Sleeping on your back is important the first 2 weeks to avoid prematurely dislodging the threads. Try keeping your head elevated at 30 degrees for a week to reduce swelling.
Avoid irritating products
Avoid Retinol, Retin-A, glycolic acid, Vitamin C and other irritating topical products over the entry point sites for 7-14 days.
Moisturize
Apply non-scented gentle moisturizer, such as ZO hydrating cream, daily for 5-7 days instead.
SPF
Apply non-chemical sunscreen such as TIZO SPF 40 each morning.
Movement
Restrict facial movements for 2 weeks (no big facial expressions and refrain from eating hotdogs or hamburgers-foods that force a wide opening of the mouth) and do not visit a dentist for 4 weeks.
Activity
Avoid running or any strenuous activity or heavy lifting for 2-3 weeks because this period of time is when pro collagen forms securing a stable thread position. Avoid facial massage, face down body massage, facial straining or placing pressure on your face for 1 month as it may result in threads misalignment. Avoid getting any dental treatment or wide opening of your mouth for at least four weeks after getting the PDO thread lift. Don’t pull your facial skin, massage, scrub or exfoliate the skin for at least three weeks.
Treatments
Avoid IPL, Fractora, CO2, Radiofrequency treatments, or chemical peels to treated area for 4-6 weeks since these treatments can prematurely break down the thread.
Avoid saunas, hot tubs, and pools for the first 3 weeks.
Pain management
You can take Tylenol (if no allergies) as directed for pain/discomfort the first week. Experiencing slight episodic discomfort such as stinging, pulling, or scratchy lasting 2-5 weeks after the procedure is normal, and will gradually subside. Pain at the insertion points is normal and may last several days. Report any pain after 2 weeks. Feel free to take 25mg Benadryl (causes drowsiness) at night time 1 hour before bed for the first three nights if no allergy. This will help you sleep. Avoid aspirin or anti-inflammatories for the next two weeks after the treatment.
Diet
Avoid drinking through a straw for at least a week. Eat soft foods, avoid tough meat, and drink healthy shakes the first week to avoid facial muscle strain.
Gum
Chewing gum should be avoided for at least two weeks.
Incision
Polysporin ointment is applied to the injection points after the procedure. Polysporin can be applied twice per day for 5 days over the entrance points of the threads to prevent infection.
Asymmetry and irregularity of the tissue is normal and will resolve over the course of 2 weeks.
Effects should be immediate however, maximum effects will occur weeks 4-6. Book follow-up in 3 days, then 2 weeks, then 6 weeks.
